Course Description:
If you have been involved in your organization’s strategic planning, annual FTE count and operating & capital budgeting process, you know what a challenge it is.  Choosing from an ever-growing list of potential projects, and then resourcing those projects effectively is an art and science in itself.  Enter: Project Portfolio Management (PPM), a critical topic in today’s demanding business environment.

The course moves to an overview of Project Management Institute’s (PMI)® The Standard for Portfolio Management, Fourth Edition.  Topics covered include: portfolio management performance domains and portfolio life cycle stages; the role of the portfolio manager; key reporting metrics, etc.  Techniques for balancing competing demands and creating an optimal project mix will be demonstrated with MS Excel spreadsheets.

Intended Audience:
Project Management Professionals (PMP)®, Program Management Professionals (PgMP)®, and Portfolio Management Professionals (PfMP)®; financial planning and analysis (FP&A) and accounting professionals; organizational strategists and business unit heads, department managers who are responsible for establishing project priorities or monitoring project performance.  Project, program and portfolio leads, managers and directors.  Note: this is an Intermediate-to-Advanced level course.
