Mary Jane E. Lawton is the Director of the enterprise Project Management Office (H3W PMO) at Hartford HealthCare (HHC), an integrated healthcare system in Connecticut employing 30,000 individuals and spanning nearly 350 locations in the state. Mary Jane (known to many as MJ) is a passionate healthcare leader with keen interest in developing strong, engaged teams, tackling large, complex projects/programs, and contributing to improving health, wellness, and equity within her community.
As a Senior Project Manager, Program Manager, and now Director of the PMO MJ has successfully supported many strategic projects and programs delivering on significant financial, experience, access, and quality outcomes. Team is a priority for MJ, so taking care of her colleagues and creating a space for creativity, growth, and collaboration is at the forefront of her work as PMO Director. She takes pride in working with an agile and innovative team that continually strives to enhance the Project Management services we offer our organization while meeting the needs of our sponsors, colleagues, and community stakeholders. MJ believes strongly that the success of the H3W PMO is in embedded deeply in our professional and value based culture, leadership behaviors, and consultative services model.
A rising leader in healthcare and Project Management, MJ seeks to continue to develop her knowledge base and skill set while maintaining a community focus and giving back through volunteering and mentoring opportunities. She brings a fresh and agile perspective on both the art and science of Project Management borne from her experiences in the healthcare and nonprofit sector. Through transparency, humanism, and persistence MJ hopes to continue to be a catalyst for positive change in the world around her.
MJ Lawton graduated from Northeastern University in Boston with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree, and then returned home to her roots in Connecticut. She spent the last 13 years of her career at HHC serving in various leadership roles in Pharmacy and the PMO. She achieved her PMP certification in March 2018. MJ resides in Colchester, CT with her husband, Tommy, two kids, Kate and Thomas, dog, Leo and two cats, Bandit and Salem.
