Spotlight on Programs Volunteers
In this issue, we spotlight two volunteers for SNEC’s Higher Ed Outreach committee: Amy Maher and Jessie Joseph.
Amy Maher is AVP of the committee, which coordinates speakers and events for students at regional institutions of higher learning. She focuses both on maintaining relationships with the eight colleges and universities we already work with and on broadening our reach to more schools.
“I’ve spent decades volunteering in community, leadership, and membership development,” she says, “and I’m excited to bring those skills to support SNEC-PMI and its members.”
This year, Amy also attended both the SNEC annual meeting in April and the strategic planning meeting in September. She loves the chapter’s energy!
By day, Amy serves as a project consultant in Corporate Supply Chain at Yale New Haven Health, where she focuses on system-wide conversions. Major initiatives this year have included implementing EKG and ENFit conversions across all delivery networks.
In her free time, she enjoys cycling, gardening, traveling, and watching movies. Two recent favorites: “The President’s Cake” and “The Secret Agent.”
Fun fact: Amy grew up in San Francisco’s Haight-Ashbury neighborhood. “My parents were hippies, so our home was always open—filled with music, shared meals, and neighbors whose backgrounds and stories were completely different from my own. That environment taught me to be open-minded, curious, and street smart.”
Jessie Joseph, another Higher Ed Outreach volunteer, recently presented “Why Group Projects Fail and How to Fix Them” for a receptive group of students at the University of Bridgeport.
“I genuinely enjoy learning and sharing knowledge,” she says, “and SNEC gives me the perfect platform to do both. It allows me to contribute outside of my 9-to-5 while continuing to learn, connect with others, and develop skills that also complement my professional career.”
In that 9-to-5, Jessie is a manager of data analytics at Montefiore Health System, deriving insights from data to support operational and strategic decision-making. She spends her spare time with rescue animals at the shelter: “It’s definitely one of my happy places!”
Fun facts: Jessie loves pageantry and has competed in pageants. She says, “I also enjoy performing at South Asian cultural events. Give me an excuse to dress up 😊”
