SNEC Milestones & Momentum
Since our last newsletter was published in the Spring of 2024, our Chapter leadership has been working hard to align the SNEC-PMI chapter with the current needs of members. Here are some highlights of our recent achievements and some new opportunities available to you as a chapter member.
- Strategic Planning Generates Momentum: Thirty-four SNEC-PMI members, leaders, and board members spent six hours at the University of Hartford generating and discussing how our chapter can add value to our members… then followed it up with more conversation at The Republic Gastropub in Bloomfield. Lots of exercises, great feedback, and fun. Huge thanks to everyone who joined us! See the Strategic Planning article on page 10. Fresh updates will be provided in the next Chapter newsletter.
- New Corporate Outreach Committee Formed: Based on the results from last year’s strategic planning session, a new committee was formed to focus on outreach to corporations. We have nine dedicated volunteers pursuing some great ideas, but we could use more help. Connect with the Corporate Outreach Committee at [email protected].
- New Agilist Outreach Committee Formed: Based on strategic planning results, this new committee focuses on outreach to Agilists. We have 11 dedicated volunteers working on multiple initiatives. Our Agile article has more details.
- More In-Person Networking Events Added: A new committee was formed to bring back in-person networking opportunities. Our volunteers have planned and executed two events so far, with two more to come by the end of the year! See the events list below for upcoming opportunities.
- Marketing Committee Revives Newsletter: The SNEC-PMI Marketing team has been reinvigorated with new members and leadership! They have revived this newsletter and have been conducting multiple marketing activities, with more on the way. Our active committee welcomes new volunteers! Connect with us at [email protected].
- Bank Account Transition Complete: The SNEC-PMI Finance Committee has officially transitioned our banking to Bank of America, increasing flexibility and stabilizing services.
- Chapter Representatives Attend PMI Regional Leadership Meeting: Greg Gregonis (SNEC-PMI Vice President) and Deborah Ketai (Board Member, Programs) spent three days in Ottawa with other PMI chapter leaders from the Northeast and North Central U.S. and Canada. They learned about upcoming global PMI initiatives, leadership training, and best practices.
- BOD Evolves in Lieu of Elections: With six open seats on the board and only five candidates, we did not need a membership vote this year. We have a great set of returning and new board members officially starting in 2026. Read their bios below.
- Colleges are Excited by Our Higher Education Programs Committee: This small but mighty group has provided or is planning programs and speakers for seven universities so far. Over 50 SNEC members have signed up to speak or network with students. With pending requests from several more schools, we need more volunteers to help plan events. Interested? Email [email protected].
- Students Streaming SNEC: Chris Zack, Visiting Instructor at the University of Hartford’s Barney School of Business, now streams many of our webinars to his classes.
- AI is a Major Focus: Our six programs committees continue to meet strong demand for AI-focused learning—webinars, in-person panels, and university events covering AI-assisted PM tools, AI implementation, and PMI’s own tool, PMI Infinity. Check the chapter website calendar for upcoming AI-related events.
- New Retiree Committee Formed: We’re excited to launch a new initiative designed for our retiree community! This portfolio will create space for retired professionals to connect, share experiences, and stay engaged. Interested? Contact [email protected].
- Education Committee Expands Leadership: The SNEC-PMI Education team has been revitalized with new members and two additional leaders to help carry out the mission.
- New Member Orientation (NeMO): New Members, New Energy! On July 24th, we welcomed our newest SNEC-PMI members at NeMO—an evening of connection, learning, and lively networking.
- Successful and Engaging Annual Meeting: In May, 115 members gathered to network and hear about the state of our chapter. Feedback was excellent—don’t miss next year’s event!
- Find Opportunities on Our Volunteer Engagement Platform (VEP): VEP connects you with volunteer roles that fit your goals. Whether you want to grow your skills, expand your network, or give back, VEP can help. You’ll need to log into pmi.org to access it. Not a PMI member but interested in volunteering? Email [email protected].
