Spotlight on Programs Volunteers

In this issue, we spotlight Debora Trailor and Kate Kadri, from two of our webinar-producing committees.

Debora, who serves SNEC as AVP of the New London Satellite, has worked in aerospace for 20 years. Currently Senior Director in Supply Chain at Triumph Group, she used to be an engineering manager—and is living proof that “sometimes you need to step sideways to move up.”

She says, “Each day I seem to learn a new skill and utilize the tools in my PM toolbox to assist the teams.” Debora has been volunteering with SNEC for many years, partly because she enjoys sharing the technical and soft skills that have helped her succeed in her career.

Before aerospace, Debora worked in the automotive and defense industries. “My career goes from sea to land to air. Maybe space is next!”

Fun fact: Every year, Debora grows tomatoes from seeds that have a special meaning for her. Their “ancestors” were brought from Italy over 30 years ago!

Kate, who has volunteered with the Lower Fairfield County Satellite for the past couple of years, is quite the “doer” herself, juggling full-time work, volunteering, and three children ages 3 - 15. She also loves “camping, reading, and just about anything that allows me to be creative (writing, crafts with the kids, resin work, baking, etc).”

She volunteers “to give back and connect with fellow project management professionals.”

During COVID, Kate designed and built full haunted houses in her backyard, using canopies, party tents, and old pallets, so children from the community could still enjoy Halloween. They’d come in groups at set times for the decorations (including a fog machine!) and bowls of candy.

Here’s another fun fact: You, too, can join one of our six programs committees! Just email [email protected] to set up a conversation and find the best fit for you.
