PDU Tips

PMI Talent Triangle Our March program at the South Windsor Public Library, “How to Rack Up and Report 60 PDUs,” attracted members who already hold PMI credentials, as well as a couple who are planning to get them.

Antonella Zompa, Ikenna Nedosa, and Deborah Ketai outlined the different renewal requirements for PMI’s most popular credentials, explained the 12 different categories of PDUs and the Talent Triangle, and shared tips on how to achieve them quickly and at little or no cost.

Did you know?

  • You can get PDUs for listening to relevant webinars or podcasts while you work out or do chores.
  • PM-related lunch & learns or mentoring sessions count, too.
  • If you have multiple certifications, many PDUs can count toward all of them simultaneously.
  • You can claim PDUs for PM-related volunteering activities—and, of course, we always recommend volunteering with SNEC.

In fact, there are two types of PDUs that many people are eligible for, but forget to claim:

  1. The number of PDUs allowed for working as a project professional
  2. PDUs for the prep time involved in creating a presentation

One speaker shared the experience of going through a PDU audit and gave advice on how to document the PDUs you claim.

Remember: If you don’t want to get PDUs, no problem. Just take the test again!
