Spotlight on Programs Volunteers

In this issue, we spotlight two of our AVPs: Antonia Jascowski and Joe Carfagno.

Antonia heads up one of the four “satellites” (committees) that produce Webinars. By day, she’s a strategic initiatives project manager at Travelers, leading both technical and non-technical projects in the Construction Services group.

She joined SNEC a little over 3 years ago but has a long history of volunteer work: She’s been a Special Olympics volunteer since she was eight years old!

Honoring her team’s tradition of “tag teaming,” Antonia shares satellite leadership with Kate Kadri. In planning their programs, Antonia and Kate try “to recognize our members’ diversity across a lot of roles and industries. We don’t assume that everyone is PMP-certified.” That same diversity is one of the reasons Antonia enjoys volunteering. “It offers continuing opportunities to learn about the profession from people who are both official and unofficial PMs across industries.”

Fun fact: Antonia is using her PM skills to plan her upcoming wedding!

Joe Carfagno, one of our longest-serving volunteers, supports the finance function for Jackson Laboratories. He just celebrated 15 years of producing SNEC programs. The types of programs have changed over the years, but since COVID hit, he’s been a one-man-band, hosting roundtable discussions. He went to that format “because I wanted people to be able to talk about what they actually did in their jobs. You learn a lot, talking to people.”

Fun fact: As a high school student on Long Island, Joe appeared on the TV show, “It’s Academic.”

Here’s another fun fact: You, too, can join one of our six Programs committees! Just email [email protected] to set up a conversation to find the best fit for you.
