A Message from our Outgoing President

Dear Membership,

I am excited to announce our 2019 Southern New England Chapter Officers and the Board of Directors:

  • Mary Frances Gorgas, PMP - President and CEO
  • Neil Weiss, PMP - Chief Operating Officer
  • Matt Weston, PMP - Chief Financial Officer
  • Daniel Capetta, PMP - Secretary
  • Svetlana Veprinsky - Board Member
  • David Kaherl, PMP - Board Member
  • Genevieve Guilmette, PMP - Board Member and Past President

As I now step to the Past-President role, I wanted to thank you all for this wonderful opportunity.  Being a Volunteer for 10 years, and President for the last 2 years, has been an experience that I will cherish for a long time.  It has allowed me to develop my leadership and influencing skills, as well as nurture a culture of collaboration amongst the Board and SNEC Leaders.  I was able to apply these new skills at my work, and I do believe that this experience has accelerated my career progression, as well as made me a better teammate and leader.

I am not quite done with my SNEC PMI volunteer journey.  I plan on staying involved with the Board for 2019 and lead the Volunteer Committee, and fulfill my past-president responsibilities supporting Mary Frances Gorgas as our new SNEC President, and the Board.

On a personal note, I have made some great connections both with our members and volunteers. Over the years, several of them have become friends, and a few have become some of my greatest cheerleaders and mentors – both personally and professionally.   If you have not volunteered for SNEC yet, I encourage you to consider it - it could just change your life!  To add some fun, I shared some of my favorite memories below.

I hope to see you at our upcoming Annual Meeting in March (the date of which will be shared shortly).

Incoming President's Message

Dear Membership,

I am humbled to have been elected by the Board of Directors as the 2019 President and CEO of the Southern New England Chapter. It is an honor that carries with it a great deal of responsibility and I endeavor throughout my term to continue the great work done in our Chapter by past presidents before me.

We have started the year strong and have lots of opportunities for engagement via our education classes, regional program meetings, networking events, and our Annual Conference. Genevieve expressed how impactful her volunteer experience has been for her both personally and professionally and I couldn’t agree more. Volunteers are the backbone of our Chapter and we couldn’t offer all of these great things without their enthusiasm, creativity and dedication.

Thank you Genevieve for your tireless leadership to the Chapter these past two years. As I look to the future for our local SNEC Chapter and the broader PMI global community I am amazed to think of the impact project management has across the world and the contributions we all make, every day, to make a difference and further our profession and those around us. I look forward to taking Genevieve’s legacy forward into the year ahead and all of the new opportunities that await!
